Nasal Glioma

Abstract
The appearance of ectopic glial tissue in the nasal region is rare many names have been given to the. condition, the commonest being "nasal glioma". It may appear intranasal, extranansal or, combined intra and extranasal. Diagnosis is usually made at birth or shortly thereafter by the observation of a mass in the nasal lumen or on the dorsum of the nose. Histologically the lesion appears to be neoplastic tissue composed of glial cells interspersed in a fibrous tissue stroma and rich vascularization. Treatment of these lesions is by complete surgical removal.
Report of a case:
A 1 year and 3 months old girl was seen in the ENT.Dept. with the history of a slowly growing mass, on the nasal bridge since birth. After complete X-ray examinations including encephalography, surgical removal was performed in general anesthesia. It was found that the glioma entered through a samll defect in the frontal bone into the anterior cranial fossa from where diffuse tumor masses could be removed by suction. The postroperative course has been uneventful.
